Burning, scratchiness, grittiness, redness, intermittent blur, eye fatigue, or having the sensation of a foreign object in your eye; these can all be symptoms of dry eye. Chronic dry eye, or keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is a very common condition in which the eye is not receiving adequate lubrication. This may be a result of issues affecting the production of tears or issues with lipid production which help protect tears from evaporation. Aside from painful symptoms, dryness can also affect visual clarity. Age, hormones, medications, stress, screen usage, contact lenses, and environment are all factors that can influence dry eye.

At The Vision Clinic our doctors will work with you to determine the causes to your dry eye symptoms and determine the best treatment approach. The Vision Clinic is proud to offer intense pulse light (IPL) as well as low-level light therapy (LLLT) as treatment options for our patients suffering from chronic dry eye.

Our iProX intense pulse light therapy device uses light as well as radio frequencies (RF) to treat the underlying cause of evaporative dry eye. These two energy frequencies are used to liquefy hardened oil, meibum, within the oil glands. This allows expression of any blockages and the ability to regain the nature oil secretions used to protect tears from evaporation. IPL and RF can also be used to treat inflammatory dry eye secondary to ocular or facial rosacea.

Our IPL treatments are coupled with our low level light therapy device, iLightPro, to further aid in repairing tissue and reducing inflammation.
